Home Energy Retrofit Specialists in London

Path-50 delivers deep energy retrofits for London homes using a whole-house approach, guided by Passivhaus retrofit principles. We look at the building as one system, considering insulation, airtightness, thermal bridging, windows, ventilation and heating together. The aim is a warmer, healthier home that costs less to run, while respecting the character of the property. We manage and coordinate the design, engineering and construction process, so one team looks after the project.

One building, One system

Upgrading one element on its own can leave problems elsewhere: a better window beside a leaky junction, or new insulation with thermal bridges left in place. We start with a whole-house plan, then sequence the work so each stage supports the next.

What we consider together

  • Insulation and airtightness – Planned as continuous layers, with attention to the junctions where they meet.
  • Thermal bridging – Minimised at the points where walls, roofs, floors and windows connect.
  • Windows – Selected and installed as part of the whole building envelope.
  • Ventilation and heating – Designed with the improved fabric, so the home stays comfortable and fresh.
  • Quality on site – Critical details are coordinated before they reach site and checked during the works.

Homes we work on

Victorian and Edwardian terraces, period family houses and flats across London. Many are in conservation areas, so we plan the work around planning rules and original features, often insulating from the inside.

Why a whole-house approach

  • Lower energy bills
  • More even temperatures, with fewer cold spots and draughts
  • Better air quality
  • Details planned with moisture in mind

Common Questions

Can an older London home be made energy efficient?

Yes. How far you can go depends on the building. We assess it first and tell you what is realistic, including whether the EnerPHit retrofit standard is feasible.

Yes. Staging works best when there is a plan for the whole house first, so each stage fits the next.

Not always. In conservation areas we often work from the inside and advise on any permissions needed.

Moisture is managed in the design. Materials and details are chosen so the building can cope with it.
